Architect - Clyde Johnston
In Wachesaw Plantation East, Clyde Johnston has created a tantalizing taste of Scottish design nestled along the freshwater lakes and wetlands of this former rice plantation. Strategically placed bunkers and rolling fairways set up the challenge of the spectacular bentgrass greens. Scottish mounding highlights each hole. The course plays from five different sets of tees, offering a challenge to the professional as well as the middle and high handicap golfers. Wachesaw Plantation East hosted the inaugural Susan G. Komen International LPGA Tournament in April 1997, and also the LPGA City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic in April 1998. The course record is Meg Mallon's 62.
Wachesaw Plantation East uses the Prolink Yardage System which is golf's premier yardage and course information system. Each cart features a computer display which shows full color hole layouts and yardages. The system allows the golfer and the pro shop to communicate with each other. The world class practice facility offers an expansive teeing area and two large putting greens. A private teaching tee is located at the back end of the driving range. Wachesaw East is host to the Marlene Floyd For Women Only Golf School each spring and fall. This outstanding golf school is personally instructed by former LPGA standout, Marlene Floyd.
Grand Atlantic Ocean Resort is located in Myrtle Beach, just a few steps away from one of the most scenic stretches of beach on the East Coast and close to water parks, shopping, restaurants and attractions.
